WCT is recruiting for a Vehicle Mechanic.

As a Full-time Vehicle Mechanic at WCT, you will be part of a small, friendly team responsible for
keeping the WCT fleet of vehicles and those belonging to similar not-for-profit and charity
organisations on the road. You will be expected to work on diesel and electric vehicles, so some
experience of EV maintenance is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Person specification

The role will require you to undertake vehicle maintenance, service and repairs. It is essential that
you can test, diagnose faults, repair vehicles to a high standard, and be confident in your knowledge
levels. You will be required to show you can use your initiative along with working as part of a great
team.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Scheduled maintenance and repairs on conventional (ICE) and modern electric-powered
    vehicles to manufacturer standards.
  • Diagnostic and electrical fault diagnosis repair.
  • Test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and to
    determine whether any other problems exist.
  • Complete accurate documentation of each repair.
  • Carry out regular vehicle Safety Checks.
  • Complete all work-related tasks as directed by the Management.
  • On occasion, if required, to perform the duties of a community bus driver as required by
    WCT.

Desirable

  • EV qualification and experience with Electric vehicles
  • IT Lierate

Essential requirements:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least three years experience working in a similar environment.
  • Recognised qualifications and skills to work on Light commercial vehicles (NVQ Level 3) or
    equivalent.
  • Full Driving licence (D1 category preferable).
  • Have a willingness to learn and undertake training if required, i.e. EV training.
