Born in Kingfield in 1947, I lived the first 8 years of my life in Goodmayes, Essex until my family moved back to the Woking area.

Having no clear idea what career I wanted to pursue, I had a succession of differing jobs until in my mid twenties I started a successful career in sales.  However, in 1993 I was made redundant and because I was perceived too old to get another sales job, I decided to go self employed as a private hire/taxi driver with Broadway Cars based in Knaphill.  I became a partner in 1999 and remained so until the company was sold in 2009.  I carried on driving until I retired at 65, when I started driving on a casual basis for Woking Community Transport, and I currently operate a school run every day to and from Freemantles School, in Mayford.

From a very early age I have been extremely keen on sport, and I played cricket and football until my career ended with a serious knee injury when I was aged just 45.  I now have taken up golf and like to play as often as possible.
