I joined Woking Bustler after spending 33 years as an IT Communication Specialist in a tobacco company, until taking early retirement at the end of 2005. I was lucky enough to spend 5 years travelling all over Africa and the Middle East before joining Bustler in 2008, having never driven a bus before and with no sense of direction. Since the initial training I’ve now worked on most of the major contracts, and I’m currently a regular relief dial-a-ride driver though I’m quite happy to step in and provide cover whenever there’s a driver shortage. Even after all this time I’m still using a local map! My biggest tip for any new driver is “take your time and don’t rush”. It’s much, much easier to reverse slowly than quickly, and it looks just as impressive!

The things I enjoy most about working at Bustler are; meeting people (clients and colleagues), it’s a small friendly organisation. There is a strong feeling that you’re making a difference for the clients, and the work is flexible enough to leave me with enough time to complete other activities, and enjoy hobbies.
